Two firearms - an AK-47 rifle and a Smith and Wesson with twenty-three 9mm rounds; twenty-eight (7.62) rounds and three magazines (two 9mm and one AK-47) were discovered yesterday at the Port Handlers Warehouse in Montego Bay. Customs officers assigned to that station uncovered the weapons during the routine examination of a shipment consisting of two barrels, a crate and a ladder which arrived on board the Seaboard Intrepid on April 17. The shipment was sent from a United States address with the firearms concealed in the crate. The weapons were handed over to the Montego Bay Criminal Investigation Bureau who arrested one person in connection with the seizure. Investigations are ongoing. |
