Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A St Catherine farmer who is being accused of assaulting a man he owes had his bail extended when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Barrington Dawkins of Portmore, St Catherine, had his case transferred to the Gun Court when it was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green. The allegations are that on March 13, about 1:55 p.m., the complainant went to the accused whom he knew for more than a year. The accused made inquiries about money he gave the complainant to do some work. An argument ensued during which Dawkins was kicked. He reportedly drew his licensed 9mm pistol and pointed it at the complainant. The complainant made a report to the police and an investigation was launched. Dawkins was subsequently charged with assault at common-law, assault occasioning bodily harm and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. The matter will again be mentioned in the Gun Court on April 20. Dawkins is being represented by attorney-at-law Anthony Williams. |
