The St Catherine police are investigating Sunday night's fatal shooting of a farmer in the parish.

Dead is Franklyn Mayne who was shot and killed by heavily armed thugs who invaded his home in Riversdale in the parish.

It is reported that Mayne was at home with family members about 9.30 p.m., when the front door to his house was kicked opened.

Further reports are that six men entered and reportedly engaged him in brief conversation before shooting him in front of his relatives.

THE STAR understands that the thugs used a sharp instrument to carve his stomach.

Mayne's relatives escaped unhurt after fleeing through a rear section of the house.
