A 60-year-old Portmore resident, who sexually molested an 11-year-old girl three years ago, pleaded guilty to carnal abuse in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

The man, who appeared before Justice David Fraser, is to be sentenced next month. The accused was brought before the court after being charged with several counts of sexual improprieties committed between 2009 and 2010.

It was revealed that the 11-year-old became the subject of abuse by the man who lured her to his home.

He is said to have taken the child to Passage Fort Drive in Portmore where he molested her.

However, residents observed strange relationships between both parties. As a result, the matter was reported to the Waterford police.

An investigation by Corporal Suzette Kelly resulted in the man being arrested and charged.

The judge ordered that a social inquiry report be conducted by May 11 when the matter will be finalised.

The defendant is being represented by Courtney Maxwell.
