Nude Jamaicans posted online - Videos, pics published without consent

Cops seek website owners

The police are feverishly seeking to locate the administrator(s) of a new social blog that has been displaying sexual or nude pictures and videos of Jamaicans without their consent.

The Organised Crime Investigation Division and the Cyber Crime Division are now trying to find out the creator or anyone associated with the now infamous blogspot.

An officer from the Cyber Crime Division, who was somewhat tight-lipped about their investigation, disclosed, "We are aware of the reports and steps are being taken to deal with this very sensitive situation. Whatever reports are out there, let them stay while we here working to correct or bring an end to the matter."

The infamous blog is not in your usual text form but features pictures and videos bearing images and video footage of Jamaicans.

The images featured on the website include one of Jamaica's known entertainment figures, a popular businesswoman and several average Jamaican citizens. The names and in some cases the areas where the persons live and Facebook information also accompany the photos.

The photo of the popular female artiste, who was noticeable atop the images when THE STAR first visited the website, only had her kissing a male but the administrators boasted of having others to release. They even touted that they had in their possession images and video footage of other popular personalities.

When the manager of the artiste was contacted yesterday she said, "The artiste is, as we speak, on her way to the police and her lawyers have been contacted".

She further said that persons associated with the blog had called earlier in the day and asked for money. "They are demanding $50,000 to have the picture removed or they threaten to add more pics tonight at 10," she said. ''They hacked into her personal email and took out some promotional photos without her consent and we as ladies have to take a stand against stuff like this."

She also pointed out that ; "They told me they gonna send a taxi and I should give him the cash."

Up to late yesterday, despite widespread rumours that the creators were being pushed to shut it down by the public, new postings were being added. At 10 p.m. a new and much more revealing picture of the artiste was added to the site as the administrators had threatened. From observation, it appeared as if photos were being uploaded since April 18. Many of which carry comments from as much as 50 persons expressing their disgust or approval of the pictures and videos.
