The country celebrates its 50th anniversary as a sovereign nation and Tads Records is recognising the milestone with the Jamaica 50 Double Album.

Tad Dawkins, founder and head of Tads Records, says, with the company's personal history intertwined with some of dancehall/reggae's finest moments, it is fitting to release a commemorative album.

"It's a momentous occasion, and we want to be part of it," he said. "We're still considering the final list but it's something we're excited about."

Among the songs confirmed is Here I Come, the Dennis Brown anthem Dawkins produced in 1978. So too Budy Bye, a dancehall favourite by singer Johnny Osbourne.

Jamaica 50 also features: Vanity and Mr DC by Sugar Minott; Cuss Cuss (Lloyd Robinson), God Is Standing By (George Nooks), Just As I Am (LUST) and People's Choice, a big hit by Ray Darwin in 2008.

The album is one of several releases by Tads Records in a busy 2012. In February, it released the instrumental album Dwight Pinkney and D P Band by the renowned guitarist.
