A male student at the University of the West Indies, Mona, had to fend off an attack by a lesbian student after she learnt that he had her girlfriend in his hall room, THE STAR has learnt.

Reports reaching THE STAR indicate that the incident took place in the wee hours of the morning recently on one of the more popular halls when loud banging on a door awoke students.

It is understood that the noisy disturbance immediately focused the attention of students towards a room door on one of the male clusters where a rather upset female was seen armed with a stone.

Moments later, a male student emerged from the room and confronted the female, who immediately attacked him while accusing him of having her lover inside his room. The male student and the angry girl then traded blows briefly before she was relieved of the stone and chased away.

However, undaunted by her dismissal, it is reported that the girl later returned with reinforcements as two other girls, also thought to be lesbians, came to her aid.

A loud quarrel ensued among the three girls and the male student as well as the females who were demanding the release of the damsel from his room. However, he refused.

It is understood that campus security had to be alerted before a semblance of calm returned to the hall and sleepy residents were able to return to their beds.

Meanwhile, the females and the male students, including the 'damsel in distress', were interviewed by the security team and given a stern warning.

When THE STAR journeyed to the hall to enquire about the matter, some residents were tight-lipped while others said that lesbianism was the norm so persons often turned a blind eye.

Head of security for the university, ACP Keith 'Trinity' Gardner, told our news team that he was unaware of the incident.
