World Youth 100m Champion Odean Skeen is looking to shake off the disappointment of not medalling at the just concluded ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls' Championships; the target, redemption at the upcoming IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Skeen failed to qualify for the Class I 200m final and was disqualified from the 100m final after a false start, to end a miserable Champs for the Wolmer's standout.

"I didn't do much at championships, there was something wrong with the gun and the start (100m) but God has a plan for me, and I am not worrying too much about that right now because it is in the past. The World Juniors is coming up and that is what I am focusing on," said Skeen.

However, with just under two months to go before 'World Juniors', the former Carifta Under-17 100m champion is looking to make up for the disappointment and win, return to the top of the podium at an international event.

"I am looking forward to The World Junior Championships," Skeen told Star Sports.

After dominating 2010, Skeen suffered injury to his groin and back and was hardly himself in 2011 failing to make a mark at Champs and pulling out of the 100m at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, before false starting in the 200m a few days later.

It is this bad spell that has left the sprinter hungrier than ever for success, and desperate to quell the swirling doubts; securing a spot and winning in Barcelona would be a great start for the youngster, but a new personal best is also high on his list of things to do.

Skeen lowered his personal best last weekend at the UTech Track and Field Classics inside the National Stadium, racing to 10.33, in rainy conditions, bettering the 10.41 set in 2011.

"I am not only looking to go there to do my best for myself but also for my country and my school, so I am excited about that, I am looking forward to it and I hope to go below 10.30," said Skeen.

Already considerd one of the brightest junior prospects in the world, it is left to be seen if the youngster will be able to shake off the weight of disappointment that has dogged him in recent times.
