Businessman sentenced for mischief

Over the past months, several members of the public have found themselves behind bars for creating public mischief and bribing police personnel.

The most recent is 39-year-old businessman Clive Frankson of Kingston Gardens in the Corporate Area, who was on Tuesday sentenced to 18 months at hard labour in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

numerous offences

This, after he made a report against two policemen attached to the Protective Services Division resulting in them being arrested and charged for numerous offences. However, as the case progressed, Frankson admitted to the court and the investigators that he had fabricated the story against the policemen.

He was subsequently arrested and charged by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for creating public mischief.

ACP Justin Felice, who is in charge of the ACB, said as the police seek to rid the force of corruption and unethical behaviour, the men under his command are relentless in unearthing the truth when they investigate.

He said members of the public must be mindful that if they make false allegations against members of the security forces, they will be arrested and brought before the court.
