Man fined for forged signatures

A man who forged the signatures of two policemen in an effort to retrieve a motor car from the Transport Authority was fined $90,000 or 18 moths' hard labour.

The accused is Noel Walker, a 42-year-old mason, from Mount Friendship district, St Andrew

When Walker appeared in the Corporate Area RM Court, he was fined $40,000 or six months for possession of forged document, $30,000 or six for uttering and $20,000 or six months for conspiracy to defraud.

The court heard that on November 16 last year, the accused went to the Transport Authority on Maxfield Avenue, St Andrew.

He reportedly produced a receipt bearing the signatures of two policemen, a superintendent and a corporal, to have a vehicle released.

Personnel observed that there was something wrong with the signatures and summoned the police.

After the document was vetted by the police it was observed that both signatures were forged.

He was subsequently arrested and charged by Detective Corporal Kirk Roache.
