Veteran reggae musician Junior Reid has landed a collaboration with the Drum Squad's multi-platinum, award-winning record producer and rapper Drumma Boy. The music producer, artiste and musician approached Reid to work on Where I Come From, which will be featured on his upcoming mixtape, Welcome To My City 2. Junior Reid is very excited about the collaboration and told THE WEEKEND STAR, "I was just in the United States doing some work, and Drumma heard that I was around and showed interest of us doing a song together. So we met up at the studio and got to work. We recorded about eight songs. This is not my first international collaboration, but each time I get to work with overseas acts its always a great feeling because they know Junior Reid has that one-of-a-kind voice that fit perfectly on the rhythm." Drumma Boy has worked with a huge catalogue of musicians that includes T.I., Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nelly, T-Pain, Usher, Ciara, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Tinie Tempah, Drake, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Fabolous, Rick Ross, Monica, Paul Wall and Travis Porter. first international run As stated earlier by Reid, this is nowhere near his first international run as he has worked with quite a few. In 2006, he collaborated with West Coast rap/hip-hop artiste Game on It's Okay (One Blood) which samples Reid's 1990 hit single, One Blood. The year 2007 saw him appearing on a remix of Mims' This Is Why I'm Hot from the album M.I.M.S. (Music Is My Savior). Reid has also done work with Jim Jones, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Bun B and others international acts. Now back in Jamaica, Reid is busy promoting his song on the 'Monkey Money' rhythm as well as those from JR Productions' artistes Andrew and Wada Blood, Juju Blood, Yung JR and Bomb A Drop. |
