Some persons are said to be in love with dancehall music, but only music can choose its true lovers and will mould them into the legend they are to become in the industry.

Christopher 'Khyda' Dacres, a true by-product of the inner city with his zest to escape from its imprisoned walls, intends to do so by honing his talent through his versatility in composing, singing and deejaying sweet melodic lyrics.

Born February 27, 1987 and raised by a single-parent mother, Khyda, while surrounded by love and affection, has passed through varying struggles and pain.

There were days when he went to bed without a proper meal and other days when he did his homework by candlelight when he attended St George's College. At school, he was well known by teachers, fellow students and even students from other schools due to his jovial nature.

In his biography sent to THE WEEKEND STAR, Khyda is described as the one who while at school was always putting on a show. "Whether in class, behind class or in the bus, just singing wicked lyrics, catchy choruses using the 'illest' rhyme schemes, after all the entire world is a stage," the young artiste said.

At home, he is said to have demonstrated his passion for the music by performing in local community talent shows and started to follow in the footsteps of his role model, Beenie Man.

Being related to the veteran singer Lady Ann only proved that the musical gene was already deeply embedded in Khyda and the passion for the music was pulsating through his veins.

After completing high school, he commenced his journey into the music industry, the years 2004 to 2006 proved to be a long and rocky one with many disappointments. He would traverse from studio to studio without much luck.

After a hiatus of three years from the music industry where he spent the time reinventing his image and further embracing his talent. His first performance was on TVJ's 'Roll Out' competition where he won his segment and got the energy to continue to persevere in the entertainment industry.

He was then discovered and signed in 2010 by No Rush Records where to date he has released 10 songs including Fatty boom boom, In di Club, Gal a rush me, Summer Time and Super Model. Hi single Work Fi weh mi Want is number seven on the Dancehall Empire Show Top 25 Promo Chart in the UK (Rocsolid FM).

Khyda has worked on various shows including Grace Family Fun day, Portmore Seafood Festival, Port Royal Seafood Festival and Sting 2011. He was also the October 2011 winner of the RETV 5 to 7 Live. In 2012, this young upcoming artiste is set to blaze a trail in the music industry with varying collaborations. Khyda is here to make his mark and his imprint on the industry.
