Wayne Whyte charged

...To appear in Spanish Town RM Court Tuesday

SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter

Wayne Whyte, the radio-show host who was held in connection with the shooting of broadcaster Jody-Ann Gray, has been charged.

Senior detectives at the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch, in St Catherine, laid charges against Whyte 44, and Safari Farr, 35, both of Harbour View addresses.

Both men were charged with illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and shooting with intent yesterday.

They are booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

A third man is still being questioned by the detectives.

Whyte, who is the host of a gospel programme on Kool FM, was taken into custody minutes after Gray was shot three times as she attempted to enter her home in Portmore, St Catherine, on April 4.

He was accosted along with the two other men in a car the police say was registered to his wife.

The police also say Gray is seven months pregnant.
