Jamaica's Danza Hyatt - File

Top-order batsman Danza Hyatt, one of many players that have featured in Jamaica's last four successful Regional Four Day campaigns, is eager to play a key role in the country capturing a historic fifth title when the team face Barbados at Sabina Park today.

"Personally, I would like to go out there and bat my team to the total we are going to sit and discuss," Hyatt said.

"That is my personal goal for this final and I would love when we reach the target, I can say yes Danza featured in this," he added.

In this his first full season representing Jamaica, Hyatt has played in five of the team's seven matches. In his nine innings he has totalled 203 runs, at an average of 22.55, with a highest score of 53. The batsman has opened in four matches, but with the departure of Brendan Nash has dropped to number four and likely to bat there today.

Hyatt is the first to point out that his contribution has been below par, but is looking to put that behind him.

"I am disappointed with my season so far, but that is behind me now and I know that I have an important game, which I have to just go out there and give the team a good total on the board. Hopefully, we can come out on top," Hyatt said.

powerhouses

This will be the second meeting between the two cricketing powerhouses of the region, having faced each other in the second round with Jamaica managing an easy 120-run win. Hyatt, who made 17 in the first innings and 28 in the second, knows that he and the other batsmen will have they work cut out for them against the Barbadian bowling attack which includes the likes of Tino Best and Sulieman Benn.

"When you come up against Barbados, you know that they have one of the best bowling attacks in the region, so we are going to get tested, and it is a final, so we are going to have to fight," Hyatt said.
