RAYMOND GRAHAM, STAR Writer G.C. FOSTER College will be seeking the treble in Intercol cricket as they will be up against The Mico University College in the final of the Intercol 50 Overs competition this morning, at the UWI Mona Bowl, at 9:30. The Gibbs Williams-coached team, which has dominated Intercol cricket so far this season after winning the UTech Twenty 20 Classics and the Intercol Twenty 20 competitions, will be hoping to end the season on a perfect note. Both teams had easy wins in Wednesday's semi-finals to advance to today's final. Playing at home, G.C.Foster, with a brilliant innings of 170 not out from Orane Williams, had a 153-run win over the University of the West Indies. Mico, with a good all-round game from Nkrumah Bonner, who made 49, and bowling figures of two for 29, had a six-wicket win over the UTech Knights at the UWI Bowl. G.C.Foster will come into today's final full of confidence and will be hoping for another good innings from Williams, along with their most outstanding batsman, this season, Derval Green. They will rely heavily on pacer Dwight Stewart, along with Pete Salmon and Joseph Lemmie. The Mico, who had two close losses to their opponents, will for the first time this season be at full strength as they will have the services of all-rounder Bonner, batsman Shacoya Thomas and pacer Jason Dawes, who were away representing the Combined Campuses & College team in the WICB Regional Four-Day Competition. |
