Patra is back. The veteran dancehall artiste has teamed up with fast-rising star Delus on a new single. The song titled Come Ova was produced by Dameon Gayle, who also produced Delus' current hit What Tomorrow May Bring. According to Gayle, the song came about at the spur of the moment. "I have known Patra for a while, been working on some projects with her for overseas producers, so one day we were in studio and I played the rhythm and we came up with the idea for a song. I have never recorded her on any of my projects before, but she did the hook and I called Delus. He came to the studio and did his thing, and that's how it came about," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. Patra, who is now in Jamaica, says this song is just the beginning of many more to come. "This is gonna be the single for the summer and I'm also getting ready to come back out myself. I enjoyed working with Delus and I think we complement each other well," she told THE WEEKEND STAR. Delus also had high praises for Patra. According to him, "Patra still has her elements from dem time deh, it's the same Patra. It was really a good experience working with her. No diva attitude, she's really down to earth. She listens and she takes ideas and gives ideas. It was a good recording." raw and clean version
Delus describes the song as a sexy club banger. "There's a raw and clean version to the song. It's a dance song that fans can really enjoy," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. The song was recorded on the Backle Mash rhythm which will also feature other artistes like Darrio, Stein and Devano. Come Ova is set to be released soon because of the overwhelming feedback it has been receiving. Other songs on the rhythm will be released at a later date. Patra, who has been on hiatus for a few years, is now gearing up to get back in the swing of things with a new album due out this summer. "I can't tell you much about it now but it's about sensuality. It's a more mature Patra. This album is my best work ever," she said. In the meantime, Patra says something big is about to happen. "I've been through a lot and it's the right time for me now. I'm glad for the opportunity, it's good for reggae music again. God is great." |
