He is afraid to commit |

Dear Pastor, I have recently been baptised. I had a boyfriend before I got baptised but he went abroad and we would usually converse over the phone. Now that he is back, he is telling me that he doesn't want to get married, so we broke up. We still talk from time to time but I just can't accept the fact that it is over because we have been together for three years. I know he cares and loves me but I just believe that he is afraid of a commitment and the change that I have made. I know the Bible speaks against being unevenly yoked but, Pastor, I do love this man and I honestly believe that things could work between us. Please give me your advice. Confused Dear Confused, This man has told you that he is not interested in you anymore. The relationship is over. Accept what he has said and move on. It is tough, but you shouldn't try to persuade him to love you or to marry you. Such a marriage relationship will not be very successful. He is likely to keep other women with you and may not be willing to attend church with you. And if both of you were to have children, he wouldn't insist that the children attend church. I repeat, accept what he has said and move on. Perhaps God has a better man for you but you have not met him as yet. So, pray that God's will be done in your life. Pastor |
