An investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting of an ex-policeman and the injuring of a woman in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.

The incident reportedly occurred sometime after 6 p.m.

Up to press time last night, the identity of the ex-cop was not released.

It is reported that the ex-cop who was a security officer and the female were doing business in Independence City, Portmore, when they were approached by gunmen who opened gunfire hitting them repeatedly.

They were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where the woman was admitted in serious condition and the ex-cop pronounced dead.
