A Portmore-based private school teacher who allegedly fondled one of his students was granted $500,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court last Wednesday.

When the 52-year-old man appeared in court he pleaded not guilty.

A successful bail application was made on behalf of the accused.

Allegations are that on March 14, the man reportedly touched a child on her private parts. The child went home and reported the ordeal to her mother.

A subsequent report was made to the Portmore Police Station.

An investigation was launched which resulted in a charge of sexual grooming be brought against the accused.

He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 5.
