Aidonia celebrates birthday

Curtis Campbell, Star Writer

Dancehall artiste Aidonia celebrated his birthday inside Club Riddim, in New Kingston, recently. The party, which was hosted during Sean Paul and Leftside's weekly event, Dutty Rock Fridays, saw hundreds of patrons and local celebrities out to join in the celebration.

Resident sound system Coppershot played hip-hop selections from the likes of Jay-Z, Ja Rule and Ashanti.

Patrons were seen drinking and dancing especially when the DJ played Mystikal's Danger and Shake It Fast.

Adding to the attractions was a $200 mixed-drink special at the bar and patrons made sure to grab the deal while it lasted.

The first set of dancehall selections came later with Mr Easy's Drive Me Crazy and Sean Paul's Like Glue.

"Big up all di girl dem who know sey dem out and look good, walk out now," the DJ yelled.

He then played Gyal by Monster Twins, The Greatest by Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel's Sen On which had the male patrons echoing blank shots.

At 1 p.m., the DJ said he wanted to slow down the tempo and he played some reggae singles like Name and Number, and X Girlfriend by Turbulence.

He also played Always On My Mind by Da'Ville and Busy Signal's Night Shift. The songs went down well with the audience as they responded with whistles.

Book of Life by I Wayne, Gyptian's Feel My Pain and Jah Cure's Call On Me also received good responses.

There were big-ups going out to Aidonia during the juggling and some local celebrities that turned out early to celebrate with Aidonia including Ghost, Elephant Man and Sean Paul.
