A St Catherine resident who is a repeat offender was sentenced to six months' hard labour on a charge of simple larceny.

He is Gary Grennon, unemployed of De la Vega City in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

When the case was mentioned Grennon pleaded guilty.

Constable Paul Banbury told the court that Grennon forms a habit of stealing and was recently sentenced to 10 days for a similar offence.

He was subsequently sentenced by Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

The court heard that on March 17, the accused went to the Shop 'N' Save Supermarket in the St Jago Shopping Centre.

He was said to have picked up one bottle Magnum Tonic Wine, a Sangster's Rum Cream, a Protex soap, olive oil, Gensing oil and oil of peppermint, all valued at $1,800. He was held and subsequently charged by the police.
