Mother mourns daughter's death

There's no telling if or when Hyacinth Thompson will ever come to terms with the untimely passing of her daughter 26-year-old Anna-Kaye Thompson who died tragically in a motor vehicle accident near the Windalco, Kirkvine Plant in Content, Manchester on Sunday.

The accident also claimed the lives of Kirk Dixon and Shauna Kay Jenningson while another two occupants sustained injuries. Thompson was a past student of Vere Technical High School and a graduate of the University of the West Indies. She was also to begin postgraduate studies at Northern Caribbean University later in September.

"Is my baby that. It's just not easy. She was my right hand, my only daughter who lived here in Jamaica with me," an obviously still shaken up Hyacinth Thompson stated as she tried to hold back the tears. During her conversation with THE weekend STAR, Thompson disclosed that she was actually on her way to meet with the investigating officer to get some insight as the post-mortem was not yet concluded.

Thompson toTHE weekend STAR that she last spoke to her daughter sometime after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and remembers the conversation very well. "I knew she wasn't coming home that night so I told her to make sure she is here for me in the morning on Sunday so she could take myself and another church sister to church by 10:45 a.m." Thompson, who is a Christian was quick to point out that she could only turn to the father above for guidance during this time. She also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from her church family and former Member of Parliament Michael Stern who have been supporting her through this ordeal.

Thompson also told THE weekend STAR that she would do her best to honour a proposal put forward by her daughter just mere hours before her passing. Anna-Kaye, THE weekend STARunderstand had expressed to her mother that she would talk to Michael Stern to assist in creating a youth club for the young people in Peckham, north Clarendon, where she lived and was well respected especially by the youths.

Delano Seiveright, G2K president and long-time college friend, shared his memories of Anna-Kaye stating, "she was a humble, intelligent, spirited and level-headed young lady and will be greatly missed. This is a loss for the G2K members who know her well and an absolute shock for her community members in Clarendon."
