One of two teenagers accused of robbing and injuring a schoolboy was granted bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Geovanni Williams, 18-year-old student of Hellshire, Portmore, St Catherine.

When the case was mentioned, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent.

In applying for bail, a lawyer told the court Williams was a victim of the constant bullying from the complainant who is part of a gang at school.

"My client was the one who was attacked by the complainant and other persons. He fell to the ground where he picked up a knife and swung in defence of himself and the complainant was cut once,'' the court heard.

Williams who is on the Career Advance Programme was granted bail on condition he transferred to another school.

Allegations are that about 9:30 p.m. on March 13, the complainant who is also 18 was walking along March Pen Road, Spanish Town near the Sagicor Shopping Centre when he was reportedly held up by Williams and another man. They reportedly then robbed him of $10,000. He was also stabbed in his chest.

He reportedly lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he was in the Spanish Town Hospital where he was admitted for two days.

Two days later, he identified Williams at the Spanish Town police station as one of the men who robbed him.

Williams was subsequently charged.
