Cavalier still lead after draw

Walter Boyd ... scored, but Mountain View were beaten 3-1. - File

Cavalier maintained their seven-point lead atop the Jamaica Yellow Pages KSAFA Super League despite drawing 1-1 with Rae Town in the feature encounter.

Fabian Nethersole earned a share of the points for Cavalier in the 74th minute after Khari Caine had given Rae Town the lead in the 47th minute. Cavalier moved to 43 points from 18 games and, with only four rounds remaining, are well set on retaining their title. Rae Town are second, seven points adrift on 36 points, and are still very much in the race.

Third-place August Town also failed to capitalised on Cavalier's slip-up, and were themselves held to a 1-1 draw by fourth-place Barbican FC.

In-form Diego Haughton gave August Town a sixth-minute lead, but Akiem Nelson levelled the scores for Barbican in the 63rd minute.

August Town remained third on 33 points and, with only a maximum 12 points to get from four games, it is unlikely that they can catch the leaders who are 10 points above them. It is the same story for Barbican who are on 32 points.

Former Jamaica Reggae Boy Walter Boyd netted for Mountain View in the 64th minute, but could not prevent UWI from running out easy 3-1 winners.

André Bernal netted a double in the 45th and 82nd minutes, while Mark McKoy sealed the win in the 70th minute for UWI which consolidated seventh spot on 24 points. Mountain View stayed in fifth spot with 25 points.

Goals by Ricardo Rowe, Michael Williams, Orlando McDermott and Peter Fowlin pushed Rockfort to a 4-1 win over Constant Spring as they moved clear of the relegation zone on 16 points in ninth spot.

Veteran striker Oneil McDonald scored the consolation goal for Constant Spring in the 73rd minute as they slipped a spot to 10th with 16 points.

Greenwich Town stayed in fifth place on 25 points after coming from behind to beat Santos 2-1.

Odayne Jack opened the scoring for Santos in the 38th minute before Akeem Simpson pulled Greenwich Town level in the 43rd minute. David Stultz found the winner in the 79th minute. Former champions Santos are second from bottom with 13 points.

Duhaney Park's dismal run continued losing 1-2 to Olympic Gardens and are rooted to the bottom of the league with 12 points while Olympic Gardens are up to eighth with 17 points.

Major League

Police National saw their lead in the KSAFA Major League reduced to six points after crashing 2-0 to Brown's Town.

Police National remained on 46 points from 18 games and, with eight matches to go, the lawmen are favoured to win the title.

Goals by Jentine Frankson and Nemo Brown in the 41st and 90th minutes pushed Brown's Town to 27 points in sixth spot.

Allman Woodford blanked Pembroke Hall 2-0 and closed to within six points of Police National. They are on 40 points, setting the stage for a good title fight to the end.

Damion Williams scored both goals in the 11th and 51st minutes for Allman/Woodford.

Meanwhile, the other four scheduled games in the Major League were not played for various reasons.

The match between hosts Cooreville Gardens and Molynes United ended prematurely, while the Bull Bay/Meadforest was not played because Meadforest failed to show.

The games between Swallowfield/New Kingston and Real Mona/Shortwood were postponed.

So, with only two games played, Shortwood remain third on 35 points ahead of Maxfield Park on 30 points.

Real Mona, with 29 points, are fifth just ahead of Brown's Town on 27 points. Bull Bay are seventh on 23 points with Meadforest eighth, with 22 points. Pembroke Hall are also on 22 points in ninth spot.

Cooreville Gardens are 10th on 15 points ahead of New Kingston on 11, Swallowfield on 10 points with cellar team Molynes United on a meagre five points.
