Fuller set to be offered new Stoke contract |

![]() Stoke City's Ricardo Fuller Reggae Boy striker Ricardo Fuller is expected to be offered a new deal at English Premier League club Stoke City, with the players contract set to expire in the summer. Speculation had been rife that Fuller, who joined the club from Ipswich Town in 2006, could be at the end of his time with his Potters following limited playing time and a costly red card picked up against Chelsea in one of his few starts this season. However, Stoke manager Tony Pulis has dismissed such speculation and seems ready to extend the 32-year-old's time at the club. "It will be determined really by Ricardo as much as anything else," Pullis told UK publication online. sportinglife.com. "Ricardo and his agent have to decide what they want to do, but Ric doesn't have anything to prove to anybody at this club." Fuller is somewhat of a cult hero at the club as he was a crucial part of their successful bid for promotion in 2008. However, the source of constant speculation during the January transfer window, it would appear the striker has fallen down the pecking order in recent months. Having been sidelined for several weeks by an Achilles injury last season, Fuller has made only nine league appearances for the club this season and is yet to find the back of the net. Competition for playing time has been tough with the likes of Jonathan Walters, Peter Crouch, Cameron Jerome and Trinidadian Kenwyne Jones available for the manager. Pulis, however, insists Fuller remains a part of his future plans. "He's a top player and a fantastic lad. He can be a little bit of the wall at times but that's Ricardo." As for Fuller's red card at Stamford Bridge, for a stamp on Branislov Ivanovic, which had Stoke playing with 10 men for most of the game, the coach claims all is forgiven. "He apologised straight away to everyone. "He knew what he did was wrong and his reaction was poor. But it's water under the bridge now." |
