Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A policeman who reportedly fired several shots at a party in St Catherine earlier this week is the subject of an investigation.

The policeman, who is attached to a Corporate Area station, is being investigating for discharging his weapon within 40 feet of a public thoroughfare.

Reports from the Bog Walk police is that the special constable was among persons at a party. The Star was informed that the event was being held to celebrate the victory of a candidate in the recently held local government election.

During the merriment, the policeman brandished his firearm and fired three rounds.

He was accosted and his gun seized by other police personnel.

The incident took place about 10:30 p.m., along Church Road, Bog Walk, St Catherine.

The Star was informed that it is against the Jamaica Constabulary Force policy for its members or auxiliary to fire shots in a celebratory manner.
