Labourers on assault charge fined

Two Lluidas Vale residents who assaulted each other over some stray goats were fined $20,000 each or six months' imprisonment.

Convicted for assault occasioning bodily harm are labourers Rose Malcolm and Junior Marvin.

When the matter came up in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday, both pleaded guilty.

It was revealed that on February 24 about 2:15 p.m., both accused boxed each other in Lluidas Vale, St Catherine.

The court further heard that Marvin's goats were on Malcolm's property. She started throwing stones and he intervened. During the argument, Marvin was slapped in the face.

He also slapped Malcolm on her face.

A report was made to the Shady Grove police station.

An investigation by Constable Kirkland Richards led to both parties being charged.
