Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer A man who beat his girlfriend severely was fined $100,000 or six months hard labour, despite the complainant showing some form of leniency towards him. He is Ricardo Williams, labourer of Spanish Town, St Catherine. During Williams court appearance yesterday, he plead guilty. However the complainant was asked if she is seeking any financial redress from the accused. "I don't want anything from him as he is responsible for me. Just tell him not to hit me again as I am afraid of him," the complainant said. Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green then handed down her sentence. The court heard that on March 3 the accused had differences with he complainant. He reportedly kicked her and reigned blows all over her body. She was wounded in the incident. A report was made and an investigation resulted in Williams being charged with unlawful wounding. |
