Waterford Primary School celebrated Jamaica Day recently, using the theme: 'Celebrating Reggae - Goals for Gold', on the school grounds.

The day featured students making presentations on several Jamaican veteran artistes. They also did presentations on music industry players such as Tony Rebel, Prophecy, Iba Mahr, Duane Stephenson, Ajai, Gentle Lamb, Pam Hall, Joy Fairclough, and Desmond Young. Mayor of Portmore Keith Hinds and Member of Parliament Colin Fagan were in attendance, and brought greetings. The day was filled with fun and excitement.

Students were dressed in black, gold and green and bandana. Jamaican foods such as rundung, ackee and salt fish, blue drawers, duckunoo, and puddings were exhibited. Vice-principal at the school, Octavia Waite, said that she was pleased with the day's event as children "thoroughly enjoyed the cultural music pieces and the traditional foods at hand".
