Police seize twenty-four 9mm rounds

The St Mary police seized twenty-four 9mm rounds during an operation on the Castleton main road in the parish on Saturday.

Reports from the Port Maria police are that between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the divisional operational support team was conducting a vehicle checkpoint operation, during which the driver of a motorcycle was signalled to stop.

It is reported that the driver complied, and a subsequent search of the motorcycle revealed a hidden compartment containing a package with the twenty-four 9mm rounds.

The driver and his pillion rider were both taken into custody.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations by detectives.
