A woman is now in court presenting her case after she claims she was raped on the first day she started a job earlier this month.

The case involving the woman is now before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

Last Tuesday, the accused man was granted bail when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green.

The accused, who is from Spanish Town, St Catherine, was represented by defence attorney Earl Hamilton.

The attorney made a successful bail application on behalf of his client after telling the court that he is not a flight risk and would attend court at any time specified.

Bail was granted in the sum of $150,000 with a surety on condition that he stays away from the complainant.

He is also to report twice weekly to the Spanish Town police and return to court on May 29 for a preliminary inquiry.

Allegations are that on March 5, the complainant was employed by the accused man's parents.

It is alleged that about midnight, the accused went into the room of the complainant. It is further alleged that he said; "If mi no get it, you can't wuk ya."

The report made to the police further alleges that the woman was raped and threatened that she should not to talk about it.

The woman is said to have sent a text to her boyfriend and a report was made to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse. The accused was subsequently charged.
