The case against a teenager who is accused of stealing his father's gold jewellery that is said to value $1 million was dismissed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, after the complainant decided not press charges. Charged with larceny from the dwelling is 18-year-old Matthew McDermott of a Kingston address. Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the accused stole the gold from the complainant's home. It is reported that the complainant reported the matter to the police, and upon further investigations, the gold was recovered at a shop called 'We Will Buy Gold'. The accused had reportedly sold the gold for about $500,000. The gold was reportedly recovered. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey dismissed the matter upon the request of the complainant. |
