Veteran selector and sound system owner Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell will be celebrating his birthday with a difference this year.

As opposed to a regular party, Wee Pow says he will be staging a birthday picnic at the Stone Love Headquarters at 41 Burlington Avenue in St Andrew on Saturday.

"It will turn out into a party but mi just want it to be different. Me and mi fren dem ago hang from early in the day; family and close friends and their kids being treated from early," he said, adding that the event will kick off at noon.

"I am gearing up myself for a long day in which I will be mixing and mingling with everybody. We will be having games like domino and netball," he said.

In addition, he says music will be played throughout the day by selectors like Gladdy from the Wild Bunch, Welton Irie and the Stone Love selectors.

"My expectations are high because I will be having people from all over the world coming to join in the celebration. I am looking forward to a great day," he said.

Wee Pow also noted that entry to the event will be free until midnight and a charge of $500 will apply afterwards. And to make the environment an even safer one, he says security will be increased.
