A premature end was brought to the preaching and religious teachings of a woman in the courtyard of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday after she was apprehended by police officers. During court proceedings, the woman and a female companion were both seen in the courtyard preaching to persons who had gathered to attend court on the day. After court had ended, one of the women who was attired in red, still continued to preach, raising her voice and bellowing out scriptures from the Bible in relation to characters that were imprisoned. Shortly afterwards, an officer from the Island Special Constabulary Force approached her and asked that she desist from behaving in a boisterous manner and that she leave the court compound. She then proceeded to shout at the officer, "Yes Jesus, Yes Jesus, I don't tell men my problems, I tell it to Jesus!" which drew the attention of other cops. She was then removed from the compound to the sidewalk by cops while still preaching and behaving in a boisterous manner. "The blood of Jesus is against you and I rebuke you", was the woman's exclamation to the officer who girted her by the waist. She was then dragged back on to the courtyard and taken into the court by officers with her friend in tow who was barred from entering the court. Up to press time, it was unclear if the woman had been charged by the police. However, checks with a clerk of the court revealed that he was aware of the incident and the woman could face charges of disorderly conduct and failing to obey a lawful order. |
