A security guard who is accused of hitting a man on his left eye with a piece of board during a dispute over $100 failed miserably to convince a judge in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday that the complainant fell and injured himself.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Kenrick Sterling.

Sterling who pleaded guilty with explanation was fined $15,000 or six months in prison.

It is reported that on the day of the incident, the accused and the complainant who is a vendor got into an altercation over $100 that is owed to him.

"Yuh Honour, I sell food, is a food him owe me for $100," the complainant said.

However, the accused who pleaded guilty with explanation told the court that the complainant tried to push his hand into his pocket and during the tussle he fell and hurt himself.

"Your Honour, I am a security guard and me and this man had a little confrontation but I didn't physically hit this man, is drop him drop your Honour," the accused said.
