The groups reigned supreme when they competed against the high schools at the Kingston elimination show of Charles Chocolate Dancin' Dynamites that was held at Edna Manley College, Kingston, on Saturday.

With the energy high in the Vera Moody Concert Hall, the contestants kicked off what proved to be an exciting show. The first to show their talent were the students from Clan Carthy High School, but their use of stage was poor and the judges, Orville Hall and Kerry-Ann Henry, said they needed to extend their movement. Full of energy, Yallahs High School followed but their presentation was messy.

With not even an ounce of dancehall in their routine, The Queen's School engaged the audience with an entertaining piece. Dancing to Christina Aguilera's Show Me How You Burlesque, the girls were full of energy from start to finish, with mic stands as their props. Their performance was well received by the judges, but they were encouraged to work on their technique and extend their legs.

From one extreme to the next, Jonathan Grant High School left much to be desired. During and after their performance, the audience was rather still. In contrast, Annotto Bay High School was full of energy and the young men showed every possible emotion in their faces. And, for that, they got good comments from the judges.

What followed was what was described as 'big people business', with the groups showing their skills. According to Hall, Hotta Vibes Dancers were clean in the choreography but needed to work on their projection. A confident Supreme Blazzaz came after with a lot of props. Weaving the props into their performance, they got a good response from the audience.

With robotic movements, Boom Squad entertained from the beginning, earning full marks from Hall. "Dem bad eeh? The choreography, the music, straight 10 iyah. Big people sup'm," he said.

Despite the deafening screams from a group of girls in the audience, Endeavour's routine was creative but they lacked energy. A bit different from the previous group, Hall and Henry described Classic Dancers' choreography as entertaining and energy-filled.

After the dancing, artiste Ikaya treated the audience to songs like Hard Way and Fly Away that had them singing along. Darrio was well received with School Fee and Ninja Kid had contestants dancing onstage while he sang Menke.
