Community curfews to be lifted today

Several curfews that were imposed on various communities mainly in St Catherine and St Andrew on Wednesday, will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today.

The police say the curfews have been imposed across these communities to help curtail criminal activities.

In the St Andrew Central Police Division, curfews are in effect in the communities of African Gardens, Mona Commons, Bryce Hill Lane, Halls Delight and Ivy, Elgin and Lyndhurst roads.

In St Catherine South, curfews are on in Park Heights, Naggo Head, Newland, Portmore Lane, Washington Boulevard, Central Village, Big Lane and Little Lane.

Meanwhile, despite a reduction in crimes in the St Catherine North Division over the last week, the police have imposed curfews in some communities.

Those communities are Ellerslie Pen, St John's Road, Percy Bush, Lauriston, De La Vega City and in the centre of Spanish Town.

Movement has also been restricted in Russia and Gully Bank in Westmoreland.

Persons wishing to leave the restricted areas during those hours are required to seek permission from the police.
