Laughter erupted in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday when a no order was made in a cross case involving two men and the damage of five doors and a plasma screen television valued at $500,000. The decision was taken by the court to discontinue the matter as both men decided to have it dropped and not to pursue it any further. The accused are 39-year-old businessman André Saunders charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and businessman Tito Miller charged with malicious destruction of property. The court heard that sometime in January, both men were involved in an altercation in which Saunders threw caustic soda on the arm of Miller causing burn wounds. Miller, who had appeared in court in another matter concerning marijuana, had damaged five doors and a plasma screen television belonging to Saunders. A third man in the matter was also injured and called in the police. The Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey decided that since no evidence was offered the matter could be dropped, and both men were ordered to leave. |
