Rasbert Turner, Star Writer An investigation is still on to find out who used a stone to damage a police car and injure a policeman more than a week ago. The attack resulted in the injury of a police sergeant who was hit on the head with a large stone. He is still recuperating from the injuries he sustained in the attack. The sergeant was hit along Bond Street in the Kingston Western police division after responding to a call. It is reported that there was a dispute and the senior policeman, who is attached to the Tivoli Police Post and a colleague were dispatched to quell it. While proceeding through a section of the area a loud bang was heard. It was then realised that the massive stone had smashed into the windscreen of the marked police radio car. Further observation revealed that the sub-officer had been knocked unconscious by the rock. The vehicle ran for some distance before coming to a halt. "It's not the first time they have attacked the police, but this time it really hit us hard as even the vehicle has been damaged, " a disgruntled colleague said. Meanwhile, the police hierarchy said an intensive investigation is underway. |
