Deva Bratt celebrated Jamaica Day with a performance at Dupont Primary School located on Olympic Way, St Andrew, last week.

He received a warm welcome from throngs of cheering school children upon his arrival and throughout his entire visit.

A former member of the Portmore Empire, Deva performed the popular singles, Paper Chase, Work Hard, Green and Yellow and Stay Fly - lyrically rich songs which got a rousing reception from students and teachers alike, most of whom were attired in a colourful sea of black, yellow and green.

The annual Jamaica Day celebrations entail education institutions engaging students in traditional activities that are particularly and, in some cases, uniquely Jamaican, and to develop their appreciation of these activities such as the maypole dance,'chinese skipping' other 'ole-time' game, and even allowing children to experience traditional Jamaican dishes and candies.

spirit of national pride

In keeping with this spirit of national pride and self-evaluation, Deva Bratt delivered heartfelt words of encouragement for the kids, telling them to be careful on the road and also reiterating the importance of a good education high self-esteem and self-worth in today's society.

He also implored the children to be focused and steadfast in their dreams and aspirations. After the performance, Deva passed for pictures with the teachers and students before leaving.

He is slated to perform at Holy Childhood High School next Wednesday.
