It is generally felt that when one hears the word 'twins', one instinctively thinks of two identical individuals. This, however, is not the case with Sasha-Jae and Tasha-Jae Burnett of Spanish Town, St Catherine. According to their mother Kelina Ferguson, both girls were born on Friday, July 13, 2001 with Sasha-Jae being the firstborn by 25 minutes. She told The Star Life and Times that the girls play an integral part around the home. "Yes, both of them are very helpful around the house. They wash, clean and do basically everything I tell them to do. Sasha-Jae, especially, loves the kitchen," she stated with pride welling up in her voice. She further explained that in terms of temperament, Sasha-Jae is more aggressive than her sister and that this was noticed from when they were babies as she would cry for hours during the nights. The firstborn is also seen as being fussy and likes to dress up, in contrast to her more reserved sister. "Tasha-Jae is quiet and does not make anything bother her. Sasha-Jae, on the other hand, is fussy, likes to dress up, and behaves as though she is hot," their mother explained. Ferguson also shared that the girls are "craven", meaning they have a healthy appetite. As is customary among children, they play together a lot, with the occasional fights in between. Both of them are grade-five students at Friendship Primary School in Spanish Town. Their mother affirmed that she makes it her duty to assist them with their homework. She said that at this stage Tasha-Jae is more advanced socially and academically. She represents her school in the Spelling Bee competition and is a member of the Red Cross Club and the netball team. The children who are aspiring to be teachers, have a brother Tahj, and two sisters, Oneika and Shanice. Both twins told The Star Life and Times that they love school and listed pink and yellow as their favourite colours. Sasha-Jae's favourite food is fish, while for her sister, it is oxtail. Tasha-Jae's favourite subjects are mathematics and English language, while her sister has a preference for mathematics. They relate to each other well at school, though both have their separate cadre of friends. Interestingly, The Star Life and Timeshas found that at school, Tasha-Jae is the more talkative of the two, overshadowing her fussy, bling-conscious sister, Sasha-Jae. |
