Taxi driver charged with the death of a woman |

|
A 52-year-old taxi driver who was charged in connection with the death of Violet Lynch following an accident on February 6, appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
He is Alvin Mitchell who has been charged with causing death by, dangerous driving and disobeying a traffic light, Mitchell was granted bail in the sum of $250,000, with one surety, and ordered to give his fingerprints to the police. He is to return to court on March 21. On the day of the incident, Mitchell who was driving along Retirement Road in Kingston, is alleged to have disobeyed a traffic light and collided with another motor car. The court heard that he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a bus stop in which the 71-year-old was standing and pinned her to a wall. Lynch, who was on her way to church with her husband, was rushed to hospital in serious condition. |
