The police have arrested a British national with breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act after he was held with 82 pounds of ganja. The man whose name the police have declined to release was held about 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday along a section of the Vineyard Toll Road. Police reports are that during a vehicular spot check, the accused was seen driving a Nissan motor car. He was stopped and during a search of the vehicle, three crocus bags of thyme were seen. A suitcase was reportedly spotted under the bags and when it was opened, the drug was found in packages. The driver was subsequently taken into custody in connection with the find. The WEEKEND Star was informed that investigation is continuing. Police said charges of possession of, dealing in, transporting ganja and conspiracy are most likely to be preferred against the suspect. - R.T. |
