A man who accepted blame for damaging the windows of a house after he threw large stones towards the building was remanded yesterday until February 16 for sentencing. Jamile Rodriques who is charged with malicious destruction of property and assault at common-law, pleaded guilty to both offences in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. The complainant told the court that on the day of the incident, the defendant became irate because she had turned off the lights in her family's house to save energy. According to her, the defendant voiced his disapproval by remarking, "Wha do dem duppy people yah!" Furthermore, she said he later became exasperated after he was spoken to by her mother, which led him to throw large stones into the house. The complainant added that the defendant also pointed a knife towards her face in a threatening manner. |
