Adult sex toy stores are buzzing with an increase in activity and sales for today's Valentine's Day as more and more Jamaicans seem to be yielding to their wild side.

Checks made by THE STAR to some of these stores yesterday revealed that many Jamaicans are big on sex toys and other adult novelties and are expressing this for Valentine's Day.

THE STAR understands that one of the adult toy stores has seen as much as a 15 per cent increase in sales.

Sqweel, a ten-tongued sex toy that runs on batteries, Like a Virgin Kit, handcuffs, whips and paddles are some of the toys that THE STAR were told many Jamaicans are purchasing.

Angela Ferguson, manager of Mystique, a shop located in Negril, told THE STAR that for today they have extended their opening hours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate the increase.

"Yes, normally we see an increase in sales this time of the year. Our normal closing time is 6 p.m., but we are gonna close at 8 p.m. today. We are also having a 20 per cent discount on items. We do gift baskets also but they are done to order."

Interestingly, when asked what were some of the best selling sex toys, we were told the bullet vibrator and dildos.

Dimitri Smith, one of the managers of the online sex toy shop Discreet Adult Toys, which is located in Kingston, also revealed that Jamaicans are big on sex toys and other adult novelties.

Smith also told us that they too will be slashing prices for Valentine's Day.

"We are giving a 10 per cent discount, and what is unique about our store is that we do islandwide deliveries. Our best sellers are the bullet and vibrating eggs, the rabbit vibrators and dildos. The vibrators that we sell are unique and each of them has an individual feature. Our office closes at 4:30 p.m., but we will be doing deliveries even after we close," Smith said.

The manager of the popularly advertised Sexy Shop, which is also located in Kingston, told THE STAR that they will not be having any specials for today.

However, we were told that adults can go and purchase their already reasonably priced products.

Store manager,Mahalia Reid, told us that males and females alike are popular purchasers of sex toys. Reid also concurred that Jamaicans love vibrators and dildos.

"Massage oils are also popular in addition to 'Me so Horny' creme, 'Rise to the Occasion' pills and other sexual stimulants. I think the dildos are very popular because they have a flesh-like feel to them. The rabbits (vibrators) are also unique, 'they are out of this world'."

THE STAR also understands that the sex toy store Naughty by Nature which is also located in Kingston will be having a 10 to 15 per cent discount on all adult novelties.
