The Leila Robinson Courts will be buzzing with excitement today when Tivoli Gardens and Waulgrovians 'A' clash in the semi-final of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Open League competition, which starts at 6:45 p.m.

In the day's other semi-final encounter, which will also play at the same time, Jamalco will oppose University of the West Indies (UWI) Pelicans. These matches will be preceeded by the B League semi-finals at 5:45 p.m. when Alpha 'A' take on Global United and Arnett Gardens 'A' oppose Ravens 'A'.

Tivoli, who last won the trophy in 2008, will enter today's encounter full of confidence following their 21-19 victory over defending champions Jamalco in the final of the FastNet Championships last Saturday. Tivoli will also be aiming to avenge their preliminary round defeat to Waulgrovians.

Sylvester Campbell, coach of the west Kingston-based Tivoli, says his team are charged up and raring to go about the highly anticipated matchup.

"I think that my team is peaking at the right time and it showed against Jamalco that we are moving from strength to strength," said Campbell.

"I expected us to come out victorious because we have a lot of experience and depth. This should see us through to the end," he said.

Tivoli will rest their hopes in the hands of the national coach and defender Oberon Pitterson-Nattie, along with shooters Cleopatra Grant, Jodi-Ann Ffrench-Kentish and centre Peta-Gaye Thomas to lead their charge to victory.

Waulgrovians, who last won the title in 2009, had to erase a nine-point half-time deficit to beat Tivoli in the preliminary round. Patrick Brissette, manager of Waulgrovains, is also confident of victory.

"Having beaten them in the preliminary round, we feel fairly good that we can repeat that feat," said Brissette. "But in order for us to do this, we must play simple netball."

Continuing Brissette said: "We have looked good all season because we have been playing well and we hope to put it into in the game against Tivoli."

National players Jhaniele Fowler and Paula Thompson along with former national captain Simone Forbes and Nardia Hanson will lead Waulgrovians' quest for victory.

In the day's other game, the vastly talented and experienced Jamalco team is expected to dispatch the Pelicans quite easily.
