Driver to be charged with dangerous driving

The driver of minibus believed to be responsible for yesterday's bus crash in Manchester is to be charged with dangerous driving, disobeying the continuous white line and carrying excess passengers.

The Manchester Traffic Department said the driver, whose name is being withheld, remains hospitalised with broken legs.

Up to last night, the police say he had not been charged.

The driver is accused of wrongly overtaking which resulted in a head-on collision.

A total of 51 persons were injured, the majority of them being students.
