Labourer pleads not guilty to arson
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man who allegedly burnt down the house of a man he accused of stealing his ganja will reappear on February 29 for a preliminary inquiry.

Charged with arson is Kimarly Wynter, 30-year-old labourer, of Bellas Gate district, St Catherine.

When the case was mentioned, the accused plead not guilty and was remanded. Allegations are that on August 7, 2010, the complainant's three-room dwelling house valued at $3.4 million as well as $200,000 cash were destroyed in a fire.

It was revealed that the dispute arose out of the theft of ganja. The defendant reportedly accused the complainant of stealing his ganja.

He ran away from the community after burning the house. The accused was eventually held on ganja charges in St Mary.

He was subsequently handed over to the Browns Hall police and was charged by Sergeant Clifton McPherson.
