New court date for promoter
Christopher Thomas, Star Writer

The trial for party promoter Gregory Lindo failed to begin in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday, but has instead been put off for next month.

Lindo is charged with attempting to obstruct the course of justice, in which he allegedly attempted to bribe the complainant in David 'Mavado' Brooks' assault case, which is currently before the courts.

The charge is in relation to an incident on July 22, 2011 where members of Brooks' entourage reportedly assaulted the complainant during a dispute in Belmont, St. James.

In court on Monday, the prosecution advised Resident Magistrate (RM) Vivienne Harris that all prosecution witnesses in Lindo's matter were advised not to attend court, as another trial matter was scheduled to start that day.

Lindo's $200,000 bail was subsequently extended until June 6, at which time his trial is expected to begin and will run over a two-day period.

Lindo was arrested in a sting operation set up by a team from the Anti-Corruption Branch after he reportedly sought to pay the complainant to drop the case against Brooks.
