Accused bail application rejected

A bail application for the man who is accused of having over 300 Gas Pro cylinders, including 100 hidden in his bedroom, was again rejected in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Donovan Farquharson, who was recently picked up in a sting operation and charged with unlawful possession of property, is to return to court on February 9.

The attorney representing Farquharson is to continue his bail application then as the court heard that there are several documents outstanding.

It is reported that the accused was selling uniquely marked cylinders from Gas Products Limited (Gas Pro) at a reduced price.

The court heard that a sting operation was set up by the police and the accused requested $400,000 for 367 cylinders of gas.

storeroom

It is reported that the cops who attempted to purchase the gas cylinders assisted the accused in loading a truck with the gas cylinders, and were brought to his home where the cops noticed that his bedroom was also a storeroom for the cylinders.

The court also heard that the police are theorising that the accused may have an internal link with Gas Pro as the gas cylinders have unique codes and they are not for sale.
